How did you first day (back?) go? [Sep. 2nd, 2008|11:13 pm]
Camosun College

Well, no time like the present to get everyone back and active. How did your first days go?

Here's mine (pasted from my regular journal)

Back to school, day 1.

So, ten years to the day, I am back in post-secondary education. I was extremely nervous, but somehow made it through: no vomiting, no fainting, and proudly I did not turn back around to go home. Everything rather smoothly, and I was glad that I read the first chapter (or two) for each of the three classes I had. Due to late teacher selection, I don't have my books for tomorrow's class, but neither will anyone else.

The marketing teacher that I had concerns about seems okay, at least from a first impression. She did appear rather dense to the workings of a projector... (sadly, turning it on seemed to confuse her.) But she was animated, and actually had class participation. We were told to stand up, and if we had a certain response to a question, we had to move to a specific area of the room. We were asked questions like, "are you a coffee person? are you the oldest child? youngest? did you drive to school? did you work this summer? will you be working while at school? are you a morning person?" and their respective counter parts. It was fun. But really, who starts day number one showing all their true colors?

Question about teachers. [Aug. 10th, 2008|03:28 pm]
Camosun College

Have any of you gone to: http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ ?

Out of the 6 professors I am scheduled to have, 3 are rated as totally awesome. One class as a TBA, and one teacher isn't in the database yet. (I assume it's his first year teaching.)

Anyway, one of the teachers has several hundred pretty nasty ratings and comments. Should I take these warnings worth a grain of salt? Or try to reschedule the class and get a different teacher while I can? (It's C. Mack in Marketing.)

(no subject) [Aug. 10th, 2008|03:27 pm]
Camosun College

Apparently there are 88 people in this community. I'm looking to get to know some other Camosun-ers, as Camosun is about to be a big part of my life. I went straight from high school into the workforce... after ten years, I decided to go back and get a degree.

Anyway... just a bit bored, waiting for school to start. What about you guys?

Interurban Camfest [Sep. 23rd, 2007|05:30 pm]
Camosun College

Hi Camosun people!

I'm posting this for my husband who starts tomorrow at Interurban. Does anyone know if Quarter 1 classes start first thing in the morning on Monday or later in the day? I thought I saw something about CAMfest in the morning and classes starting at noon, but I don't want to be wrong. We already checked the website and can't phone in on a Sunday to ask. Thanks!
